Fairweathers Nursery - Quality pot liners for growers

News

What an end to the year! November temperatures way above average have caused a bit of a headache for the nursery, with the decision when to move in plants under cover against what might lie ahead!

We are busy finalising all our production for late summer 2012 and early 2013 production.

Although we always have a good selection of available stock throughout the year it is helpful to get orders in early to us, this allows us to plan numbers and to avoid any disappointment.

We have some exciting new trial material in place which we will be assessing through the seasons ahead. We hope that some of these will turn into great lines to add to your range.

We will be releasing a new and exciting plant during the year so please sign up for our monthly newsletter so you don’t miss out.

We are looking forward to seeing one of our plants selected at Fairweather's being centre stage at Chelsea Flower Show next year - Osteospermum In the Pink is going to be a real winner and we are very pleased that we be able to support Breast Cancer Care with 20p of every plant sold going to the Charity.

Anemone Wild Swan voted best plant at Chelsea Flower show 2011 has proved that whilst a frenzied demand can be built up for one plant, lack of supply provides frustration for consumers, garden centres and growers.

As we confessed in our catalogue, we have no experience of growing the plant but couldn’t resist offering it for summer 2012 supply.

Sadly we feel that this plant has been over sold across Europe and the labs are struggling to fulfill the demand. We are therefore are very weary as to whether we will get our full quota of what we have on order with the labs.

Growing advice

We suggest potting into a 2 or 3 litre pot under cold polythene or glass. An open compost is recommended so that over watering is avoided which can lead to root diseases.
